Design e²: The Economies of Being Environmentally Conscious
I caught the first episode of this multipart series on my local public broadcasting station and found it really interesting. The first episode was on sustainable design, with a heavy focus on architecture.

What struck me the most was finding out that just the construction of buildings creates a tremendous amount of waste, and that buildings are responsible for three times more energy consumed consumed than cars. Be sure to look out for subsequent episodes. Additionally, the differences in emphasis between European and US architecture.

US: "What's going to cost us the least amount of money to produce, and allow us to charge higher leasing fees?"

Europe: "How is this building going to effect the surrounding community in the next 50 years?"
